Batman: Arkham Asylum allows players to control the Caped Crusader, as he becomes trapped in Arkham Asylum; a high security prison, which falls under the control of The Joker. During the game, players take control of Batman from a third-person perspective and guide him through Arkham Asylum, a facility for the criminally insane. The beginning of the game is fairly linear, but players are given more freedom to explore the facility as they advance.
Players are able to battle enemies through a ’free flow combat’ system, or through more stealthy means, such as sneaking up on enemies and performing silent take-downs. There are numerous gadgets in the game, allowing Batman to grapple onto raised areas, trigger devices with his ’Batarang’ or destroy weak areas using explosive gel.
In addition, the player can make use of a ’detective vision’ mode, which helps to find forensic evidence, solve puzzles or find clues. Players are provided with several missions and sub-quests along the way, which help to keep them on the right track to continue the story.

Batman: Arkham Asylum’s storyline was written by veteran Batman writer Paul Dini, and takes inspiration from graphic novels like ’Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth’. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill voice the characters of Batman and The Joker, respectively, reprising their roles from Batman: The Animated Series.
As you would expect, the voice acting is superb and the plot itself is arguably one of the best Batman stories told in any medium. Though it centres around Batman, The Joker and his sidekick Harley Quinn, it goes on to include numerous characters that will be familiar to Batman fans, such as Bane, Scarecrow and Killer Croc. The atmosphere within Arkham Asylum is one of the game’s main plus points and that particular aspect reaches its pinnacle during sections which involve Scarecrow and his fear toxins. In terms of criticisms, the combat system is extremely impressive to look at, but becomes repetitive after you become familiar with it. Moreover, while the game’s cut scenes are excellent, at times it can seem as though you are just moving Batman from one place to another, waiting for the next cut scene to start. That said, neither problem severely detracts from the player’s enjoyment of what is one of the best superhero games ever made.

If available, the official package from your Unix-like distribution is the recommended method of installing GIMP!
The flatpak build is new and has known limitations, though it will likely provide faster updates, following GIMP releases closely.
Therefore choose your installation medium according to your needs.
Flatpak build available in: i386, x86-64, ARM and AArch64. Flatpak additional instructions
The flatpak link above should open your software installer and prompt you to install GIMP. Yet it may not work out-of-the-box on some platforms since the flatpak technology is new. If that is the case, ensure flatpak is installed and if clicking the link still does not prompt to install GIMP, then manually install by command line:
flatpak install https://flathub.org/repo/appstream/org.gimp.GIMP.flatpakref
Once installed, it will be made available exactly the same way as other applications (menus, desktop overview, or any specific application launch process used by your desktop).
If this is not the case, we suggest to report a bug to your desktop or distribution asking for proper support of flatpak. In the meantime, you can still run it by command line (not as the recommended method, only a workaround):
flatpak run org.gimp.GIMP//stable
This installation will also provide regular update. You don’t have to come back on this page and install again (it will not work!) when a new version of GIMP is released. Instead if your distribution and/or desktop has a good support for flatpak, it should propose to perform updates.
Once again, if your distribution does not have proper support, you can always fall back to using the following command line:
flatpak updateSystems without flatpak support

An easy way to compile and install GIMP and other great Free software on your Mac is by using Macports. The installer allows you to choose from a large directory of packages. To install gimp using Macports, you simply do sudo port install gimp once you have Macports installed.
Last we checked, the GIMP port file pointed to the current stable release and we have reports from people who’ve built GIMP successfully this way. Homebrew
Homebrew is similar to Macports and provides packages (aka formulas) to install, either by compiling them from source or by using pre-made binaries. There are indications that there is now a formula for GIMP, installable with: brew tap homebrew/cask && brew cask install gimp.
NOTE! Please be aware that it was announced recently that Homebrew is using analytics. To turn this off in homebrew then run: brew analytics off

Fink is a package repository that offer mostly precompiled binaries. It provides the apt-get command known to e.g. Debian and Ubuntu users, and installing GIMP is as easy as sudo apt-get install gimp once you have installed the Fink installer.
If there’s no binary package, then fink install gimp will compile GIMP from source.
Disclaimer: we haven’t been able to determine if it is possible to install or build recent GIMP from Fink. Last we checked, GIMP 2.6.12 appears to be the most recent GIMP package that is offered there. GIMP for Windows

Whether you’re a sim newbie or a RollerCoaster Tycoon wizard, new simulation games take time to get the hang of. Luckily, once you familiarize yourself with Planet Coaster’s simplistic user interface (UI) and control scheme, it’s a smooth road to creating the amusement park of your wildest dreams.
Don’t be ashamed if you launched Planet Coaster, took one look at it, and turned around to consult Google. (I did, too.) Everyone’s a newbie at some point.
Rest assured that you’ve clicked on the right page. We’ve compiled this handy reference on everything you need to know about the UI and controls to get started in Planet Coaster.
Planet Coaster is proud to introduce its most ambitious content pack, Planet Coaster: Ghostbusters. The pack boasts a brand new, story-driven scenario and employs the talents of Dan Aykroyd and William Atherton, who voice their roles as iconic Ghostbusters’ co-founder, Raymond Stantz, and Special Agent Walter Peck, from the 1984 classic.

The user interface (UI) sent me running to Google faster than the controls could have. In retrospect, I’m not even sure why -- Planet Coaster’s UI design is so simple a monkey could navigate it.
Problem is, as soon as you start diving into menus, you find screens filled with all sorts of customization options that you might feel like you need a manual to understand. Luckily, Frontier has been giving Planet Coaster’s UI a nice tooltip makeover the past few updates, so I expect all these spiffy-looking options to be explained more clearly soon. Be sure to hover your mouse cursor over UI elements if you’re looking for more information.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the UI you see upon loading up a park in Planet Coaster.

*Notification Center (from top to bottom)
*Help [F1] - Displays a small selection of Planet Coaster’s basic controls.
*Notifications - Displays park notifications. Allows you to keep track of things like ride breakdowns and guest needs.
*Objectives / Challenges - Objectives are your goals in Career mode, while Challenges are simply optional achievements to work towards while you’re building a park. Challenges generate after spending a certain amount of time playing with your Challenge Mode park, while Objectives are static throughout each Career Mode scenario.
*Options [Esc] - Pulls up the options menu where you can save or load your game, adjust in-game settings, and exit back to the main menu.
*Park Management - Click this button to pull up the Park Management menu. Everything you need to know about managing your park is found here. You can check on your finances, research new rides and shops, set up marketing campaigns, hire new staff, check on your guests, and keep tabs on your attractions.
*Building Toolbar (from left to right)
*My Blueprints - This is where you can find your custom blueprints -- including blueprints downloaded from the Steam Workshop. If you’re a newbie, don’t worry about this.
*Coasters - This is where all the roller coaster magic starts. Once you choose and place a coaster, you may edit it however you like within its capacity.
*Track Rides - A similar concept to Coasters. You can build and place them much like any other roller coaster, but they often have key differences which make them unique. Things like monorails and and log fumes are found here.
*Rides - Every other ride under the moon is found here. They don’t have the same kind of customization as Track Rides or Coasters, but they serve the all important role of giving your park that bit of extra definition. Teacups, carousels, and other, more thrilling rides are found here.
*Shops and Facilities - Your guests will get hungry and thirsty while visiting the park. Some of them may even need to use the bathroom. Some may have forgotten their all mighty wad of cash, and some may have even scraped their knee. No matter what your guests need, you can provide for them through Shops and Facilities.
*Scenery - Having a park full of scenery is an important part of Planet Coaster. Your guests will get bored standing in long lines with nothing to look at. Hell, they’ll get bored walking through your park if there’s nothing to look at. Make it pretty for their sake. (And for the love of all things sanitary, please remember to include the trash cans and park benches found in this section.)
*Building - Think of this section as a natural extension to Scenery. It’s all about combining a series of items together into a unit called a ’building’. The tools and props included in this section allow you to crank creativity up to 11 and make a park that’s truly your own.
*Terraforming Tools (from left to right)
*Paths - You’ll find paved paths, natural paths, and ride queues here. Your guests cannot get anywhere if you don’t have paths. They’re like the perfect civilians that never step on your lawn.
*Terrain - That’s right, you can edit the terrain any time on the fly. Make mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, islands in the sky -- whatever you can imagine.
*Multi Selection - This tool lets you select multiple items for blueprinting or deletion. Unfortunately there aren’t any keyboard shortcuts for this like you’d expect on other simulation games.
*Park Info (from left to right)
*Park Name - The name of your park. You can edit this in Park Management.
*Finances - How much money you currently have to spend. Hover over it for more information on your monthly profits.
*Park Rating - Shows the total rating of your park. Hover over it for more in-depth reviews.
*Total Number of Guests - How many guests are currently in your park. Hover over it for details on guest happiness and demographics.
*Time Manipulation Tools (from left to right)
*Undo [Ctrl + Z] - Undo last action. You can undo a good number of actions, but there is a cap.
*Redo [Ctrl +Y] - Redo last action. Only works after undoing an action. This tool could easily be utilized to gather a before an after perspective.
*Set Lighting - A wonderful tool that lets you set the daylight lighting of your park without pausing time entirely. Entirely useful when building.
*Time - The in-game time of day. Hover over it for the date.
*Change Simulation Speed [O] - Use this to increase or decrease the speed of simulation. You may wish to pass the time quicker when you’re lacking on construction funds or waiting on new research to come in.
*Toggle Pause [P] - Pause or unpause the simulation.
*Park Border - The edge of your park. You cannot build beyond this border.
Whew, that’s a lot of information just sitting on the main screen. Of course, that’s not everything.
Clicking on a person or object opens up the Selection Panel on the upper right side of the screen. This lets you tweak different settings on objects such as color, ticket prices for rides, salary for employees, and plenty more.
That’s it for UI elements in Planet Coaster. Like I said, it’s pretty simple. They ingeniously found a way to fit all of the information you’ll ever need in nothing more than a handful of boxes. Thank King Coaster for modernization.Planet Coaster Controls Guide
There are many keyboard shortcuts that make building and maneuvering around Planet Coaster a breeze. They can easily be divided into three categories: Camera Controls, Building Controls, and Path Controls.Camera Controls
*W, A, S, D, Arrow Keys, or Right-Click and Drag - Pan the camera.
*Q, E - Rotate the camera left or right. In Freelook Camera, pans up and down.
*Middle-Mouse-Button and Drag - Rotate the camera.
*Scroll Wheel or Page In, Page Out - Zoom in or zoom out.
*T - Switch Freelook Camera on or off.

*Z - Tap to rotate object 90 degrees. Hold Z and drag the mouse around for finer precision.

*Ctrl - Hold and drag the mouse to place objects at the same elevation as the ground level you began holding Ctrl at.
*V - Toggle surface lock for objects.
*X - Toggle advanced move and rotate. This allows for precision positioning on the object’s XYZ axis.
*M - Returns to regular movement from advanced. Also enables movement of selected objects.
*Ctrl + D - Duplicates selected object.
*L - Auto-flatten terrain on or off.
*F - Snap decoration to center of wall (in building mode only).

Struggling with earning a profit every month? Check out our guide to park management. And here we are again with the monthly ’Frontier abandoned Planet Coaster’ discussion. I think we were spoiled back then when we got update after update and DLC after DLC. I understand this hunger for more. I am the same. The more content for this Game the better. But what we need to do is realise that Frontier has multiple Projects going on they need to give attention: Elite Dangerous on multiple Platforms, JWE on multiple Platforms, Planet Zoo, and now Planet Coaster on multiple Platforms. Giving all these Games the fair share in the Sun means that some have a dry Patch for a while. I don’t mind waiting for new things, since i STILL haven’t completely exhausted all the Content this Game has already. Just think of the amount of stuff that we can play with. I for one haven’t even touched the Ghostbusters DLC, even though i own it. I am busy building all my other Parks that i don’t even have the time to dive in.
But this is just me. What i have learned over the years is that patience will be rewarded I might be wrong and this is the End of DLC for this Game (which of course will come one day) or we will get another DLC out of the blue that will blow us away. If there is no more Content for this Game, i will still be happy to play with what i do have Some communication beyond ’nothing to announce’ would be welcome when it comes to console-pc parity though. There’s being quiet about upcoming content because you don’t wanna over promise and then there’s just keeping your community in the dark.

The puzzles in realMyst (and the original Myst) are all of mechanical nature. There are levers to pull, buttons to push, and wheels to turn. Marker switches on the Myst island allow the operation of various contraptions on the island that are essential for access to the various ages where the missing pages from the linking books are hidden. Sirrus is imprisoned inside the Red Book, and Achenar is imprisoned inside the Blue Book. Throughout the game, both characters plead to the player to help them escape from these books. To free Atrus’ sons the player must return all the missing pages to the correct book. The puzzles vary in the levels of difficulty, but most are moderately difficult, especially to novices. Death is often portrayed in games, more so in the sense of dying in combat which leads to a “Game Over.” Life after death, however, is a different story as it’s a subject matter that doesn’t necessarily get touched upon. Yet, developer Thunder Lotus Games is stepping into that uncharted territory with their upcoming cozy management game about death and dying, Spiritfarer.
While putting the words “cozy”, “management”, and “death” together may seem rather strange, almost insensitive in a way, it’s surprisingly the best way to describe what Spiritfarer has in store for players — embracing death and understanding how beautiful the afterlife can be. At PAX West 2019, we had the chance to go hands-on with the title to get a gist of how impactful Spiritfarer will be.
Players will join Stella, a ferry master, along with her trusty feline friend Daffodil (who can be either an NPC or be controlled by a second player via local couch co-op.) As a dynamic duo, players will have the duty of helping recently deceased animal spirits to find true peace with their new afterlife. To accomplish this challenging task, final requests that spirits have need to be completed to send them off to the afterlife. These requests can be a wide range of things, like stopping by a specific location to get them a family heirloom.
The premise of Spiritfarer immediately struck a chord with me, as it reminded me of the many friends that have passed away in just this year alone and the lives they had. To be honest, I had that “lump in my throat” feeling while playing the Spiritfarer demo; since memories of those past friends came flooding back into my mind. Jo-Annie Gauthier, the “player 2” in my time with the demo, along with art director at Thunder Lotus Games, mentioned that Spiritfarer could potentially help players, such as myself, cope with death and grief.
Switching gears here, though, let’s go back to Stella who wasn’t the captain of just any ordinary ferry. Even though it was full of lingering spirits and dread, it was also full of life and opportunities. Whether it was tending a magical garden, going fishing at a perfect spot, making delicious meals in the kitchen, or even catching lightning during a thunderstorm, there never was a dull yet relaxing moment. While there was much to do that was already on the ferry already, that wasn’t all there was as I also discovered the option to build homes on the ferry itself.
This where the “cozy management” side of Spiritfarer came into the picture once I came across a lost animal spirit that needed a home to stay in. Before bringing the spirit on board, though, I had to build them a house that was nice and cozy for them, a home sweet home, if you will. The house building mechanic was pretty unique, as it wasn’t a matter of plopping a house down somewhere and calling it a day — I had to make sure the size and location of each home matched precisely what the spirit was looking for. After doing this, thus fulfilling the spirt’s request, we traveled off to a portal to the afterlife, and with one final hug, they left the living world.
Hugs didn’t just happen this way, however, as hugs could be given at any time. Yes, there was literally a hug button, which was just awesome. Did I maybe give too many hugs? Hmm… perhaps, but hey, I thought it was lovely! But there’ll be more than hugs for players to enjoy, as players who fulfill specific requests will be granted with various abilities. For instance, I gained the power to double jump at one point during the demo I played.
While Spiritfarer may be focused on the concept of death and life after death, I absolutely have to mention it’s stunning and lively hand-drawn art style. Basically, I felt like I had jumped into a Studio Ghilbi film because of the game’s art style, and also because of how the animations were so fluid and how the music was so serene, bringing it to life.
Even though I only played a small chunk of what’s to come, it seems like Spiritfarer will offer a beautiful and powerful journey filled with unforgettable moments that’ll bring me to tears and make me smile. I honestly can’t wait to go back into Spiritfarer and unwind for hours as I build my ferry, hug some friends, and be reassured that we’ll all float on okay in the end.
Spiritfarer is set to release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One-via Xbox Game Pass, and PC-via Steam sometime in 2020.
